Increase in the limit of the annual contribution to tax-free investments

Important:
This Tax Law Change is effective from 1 March 2020.
Section 12T of the Income Tax Act provides for an exemption of:
- Interest earned;
- Dividends earned; and
- Capital gains realised
related to tax-free investments. The limit of the annual contribution to tax-free savings accounts was R33 000 per annum. It was announced in the Budget Speech that this limit will be increased to R36 000 from 1 March 2020.
