Overview

This practical series (presented in interactive workshop format) will develop an applied understanding of essential Excel skills aimed at improving productivity. Part 1: Excel Essentials for Tax Accountants

This webinar will focus on developing the basic skills to be able to review financial transactions using the MS Excel software.

The main concepts that will be discussed in this webinar are:

  • Shortcut keys (i.e. quickly apply common formats to large amounts of data).
  • Order of precedence in formulas.
  • Tracing errors and formula auditing.
  • Functions such as syntax, arguments, algorithms, RANK and ROUND.
  • Absolute and mixed cell referencing.
  • Importing of text data into Excel.
  • Use of functions to calculate total, average, minimum, and maximum values.

Data sets to be used during this webinar include:

  • Quotes and order forms.
  • Price lists and inventory (stock).
