This miscommunication can be avoided if the purpose of the audit and SARS’ requests are truly understood, and the correct mindset is adopted.

Nico will touch on taxpayers’ rights during an audit and how infringements of these rights can be addressed. The fact that SARS can and indeed must conduct audits does not mean the taxpayer is completely vulnerable and simply at the mercy of the auditor.
