It has been taking an exceptionally long time to transfer client’s tax profiles. Also, SARS has mentioned that they cannot verify client information if the client isn't on their tax profile yet. Please advise.

Answer:

Various members have raised concerns, because the SARS contact centre refuses to assist tax practitioners if the practitioner, according to SARS' records, is not the registered tax practitioner of the taxpayer. This matter and the long turnaround time to transfer profiles were escalated to SARS Head Office. SARS will investigate the turnaround time to transfer profiles and has admitted that the contact centre procedure must be amended.
