In terms of Section 6A of the Income Tax Act, the taxpayer only qualifies for medical tax credit if the contributions is made to a MEDICAL SCHEME registered under the Medical Schemes Act.

Therefore, in order to determine if it qualifies, you need to check whether the scheme is registered in terms of the Medical Schemes Act.
