My client is a VAT vendor with outstanding VAT refunds due to him for 2018 and 2019.

We are aware that there are a number of vendors struggling to get their VAT refunds from SARS. We do not know what the reason for this is. The only advice we can give you is to obtain the reason for the delayed refund from SARS via the call centre. We are aware of instances where a general stopper has been put on the refunds (e.g. where other taxes are outstanding) If this is the case, the stopper must be lifted. Unfortunately, this can only be done at a SARS office. You would accordingly have to make an appointment with SARS to have to stopper lifted.
