  • Can the OTO overturn SARS’ decision on an objection/appeal?
  • Does it fall in the OTO’s mandate to hold SARS to prescribed tax dispute time periods?
  • Can the OTO override SARS’ decision not to grant suspension of payment?
  • Does the OTO have the influence to override prescription periods?
  • Can the OTO influence SARS’ decision in respect of reduced assessment requests?

Nico is the founder of Unicus Tax Specialists SA, a niche tax advisory services firm that specialises in corporate tax and VAT, more specifically in the context of advance tax rulings, tax dispute resolution and voluntary disclosure program applications.

Talitha Muade

OTO Senior Manager: Operations

Talitha Muade has been appointed as Senior Manager Operations at the OTO since October 2014. Talitha has more than 12 years’ experience in management and over seven years in senior management at the OTO. She has extensive experience working for government departments and Chapter 9 institutions as well as experience in the private sector. Her passion lies in operations strategy, customer service strategy and staff empowerment.

She has held many and varied roles in sectors such as finance (ABSA), the petroleum industry (BP SA), and has held the positions of Deputy Manager: Finance and Administration at the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), North-West. She was also Head of the Local Office at the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) Madibeng, as well as that of branch manager at the Doringkloof and Pretoria North branches of SARS.

Her academic background includes a BCom in Business Management and Industrial Psychology (North-West University), Management Development Programme (University of Pretoria), MBA: Operations and Decision Management (North-West University). She is currently busy with her LLB.
