The Tax Season is upon us and the Office of the Tax Ombud (OTO) has launched an informative digital campaign, #TaxpayersRightsMatter. Its CEO, Prof Thabo Legwaila, will address stakeholders on this campaign as well as the extra efforts put in place, not only to promote awareness about the rights of taxpayers but also how the organisation is committed to defending the rights of taxpayers against any abuse or infringement by the South African Revenue Service. He will also address some of his concerns regarding challenges facing tax practitioners regarding their understanding of taxpayer rights and how and when the OTO assists with resolving taxpayers' complaints.

Prof. Legwaila has been a Senior Lecturer at the University of Stellenbosch, Visiting Fellow at Harvard University, Senior Tax Consultant at KPMG and later Ernst & Young, Director of Business Tax at the National Treasury and Head of Africa Tax at Citibank. He is a Professor of Tax at the University of Johannesburg and a member of the Davis Tax Committee.
He holds the following academic qualifications: B Juris (Venda); LLB (Wits); LLM (Wits); Postgraduate Diploma in Tax Law (UCT); LLM (UCT) and LLD (Pretoria). He is co-author and editor of the textbook Tax Law: An Introduction.
This event and successful completion of the online assessment will secure 2 hours verifiable output Tax CPD points.

All payments must be made by EFT or by credit card, at least 3 working days before commencement of an event.
Kindly note that should payment not been received 2 days after the event, legal action will be taken
Proof of payment will be requested at registration, if payment at that point in time has not been reflected on SAIT's bank account.
Only written notice of cancellation will be recognised.
Cancellation Conditions:
If the cancellation occurs more than 4 working days prior to the event no cancellation fee will be charged.
If the cancellation occurs less than 4 working days prior to the event a 100% cancellation fee will apply.
Delegates who book and fail to attend will be liable for the full event fee.
SAIT's liability in the case of an event being cancelled will be limited to a refund or credit of the event fee.
