Overview

Many taxpayers have been experiencing severe financial difficulties and faced many challenges during the COVID-19 period, as some standard tax processes have been very slow during this period. The Office of the Tax Ombud CEO, Prof. Thabo Legwaila, will address the challenges encountered by his office and how the Office of the Tax Ombud is managing its process during COVID-19. He will be supported by Talitha Muade, Senior Manager: Operations, who will share information related to trends in tax practitioner complaints.

The webinar will address the following questions:

  • What is the mandate of the Office of the Tax Ombud and what misinterpretation related to its mandate exist?
  • When will the Office of the Tax Ombud reject cases?
  • What process should be followed by tax practitioners when lodging complaints, which documents must be submitted and how will the Office of the Tax Ombud deal with the complaint internally?

  • Cancellation Conditions:

    • If the cancellation occurs more than 4 working days prior to the event no cancellation fee will be charged.

    • If the cancellation occurs less than 4 working days prior to the event a 100% cancellation fee will apply.

  • Delegates who book and fail to attend will be liable for the full event fee.

  • SAIT's liability in the case of an event being cancelled will be limited to a refund or credit of the event fee.
