Resolving disputes with SARS - 9 July

Many taxpayers and tax professionals have reported on an increase in SARS audit and verification activity in the recent weeks.  It seems that SARS is following a somewhat aggressive approach to increase its collections.  In this session we will focus on the way in which a taxpayer should manage its communication with SARS and best practice to handle disputes.  We will be answering questions related to the practical difficulties experienced when attempting to resolve disputes with SARS.

Managing provisional tax - 6 August

All business entities, trusts and many individuals know how to calculate provisional tax, but wonder about the most effective way of managing the risks associated with provisional tax. In this session we will be answering questions related to the practical difficulties experienced and best practice to manage provisional tax.

Tax aspects of company formations and restructuring - 3 September

Most taxpayers know what should be done in order to be tax compliant.  However, often deliberate or negligent actions by the taxpayer or SARS' interpretation of a matter (whether correct or incorrect) could lead to the imposition of penalties by SARS.   In this practical application session we will discuss the best practice of how to deal with penalties imposed by SARS under various circumstances and answer questions related to managing SARS penalties.

Tax aspects of company formations and restructuring - 1 October

Businesses have the opportunity to transact with each other and transfer assets in a tax neutral manner.  In this session we will discuss strategies related to company formations and restructuring in order to minimise the resultant tax consequences for all parties involved.  We will be answering your questions related to the practical difficulties experienced and best practice to follow in company formations and restructuring transactions.

Essentials of international tax - 5 November

The world is becoming smaller and millions of businesses situated in different countries transact with each other on a daily basis.  There are some risks associated with this (such as transfer pricing) and there are also some benefits related to this (such as reduced tax via double tax agreements).  In this session we will be answering questions related to the practical difficulties experienced and questions arising related to international tax.
