Overview

Get a full update of the most important tax amendments and ensure you are prepared for proposed changes without being caught off guard.

The workshop is aimed at providing an overview of the most important tax amendments proposed in the Taxation Laws Amendment Act, 2019 and the Tax Administration Laws Amendment Act, 2019. Delegates will be presented with a logical explanation of the developments as well as the impact of the amendments on the relevant taxpayers.

Furthermore, the workshop will highlight the important tax proposals contained in the 2020 Budget Speech.


Course Content

The workshop is not aimed at providing an in-depth technical summary of each amendment, but rather to give delegates a high-level understanding of the most important amendments and developments arising from the 2020 Budget Speech. The workshop will cover the following:

  • The current state of the particular tax provision

  • The reason for the change

  • The proposed amendment

  • The effective date of the amendment

  • The expected impact of the amendment

  • The workshop will also provide an overview of the budget speech proposals that have an impact on the tax environment

Professor Jackie Arendse

Jackie is an experienced and sought-after presenter of tax seminars for tax practitioners, accountants and the general business community. Jackie is the Head of the Department of Accounting at Rhodes University and has many years’ experience in academia and taxation, including several years as the Project Director: Tax at SAICA and 4 years as the Head of the School of Accountancy at the University of the Witwatersrand. She has chaired SAIT’s National Technical Committee and the SAIT Education Committee and also serves on the SAIT Tax Policy Committee and various tax technical committees as well as various committees at SAICA. Jackie continues to advise professional bodies on technical tax issues and has represented SAIT and other professional bodies in liaising with SARS, National Treasury and the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Finance. Jackie is well known as a leading expert in tax and her many articles on a broad range of tax matters have been published in a variety of business journals and newspapers.

Payments & Cancellations

  • All payments must be made by EFT or by credit card, at least 3 working days before commencement of an event.

  • Kindly note that should payment not been received 2 days after the event, legal action will be taken

  • Proof of payment will be requested at registration, if payment at that point in time has not been reflected on SAIT's bank account.

  • Only written notice of cancellation will be recognised.

  • Cancellation Conditions:

    • If the cancellation occurs more than 4 working days prior to the event no cancellation fee will be charged.

    • If the cancellation occurs less than 4 working days prior to the event a 100% cancellation fee will apply.

  • Delegates who book and fail to attend will be liable for the full event fee.

  • SAIT's liability in the case of an event being cancelled will be limited to a refund or credit of the event fee.
