SUMMARY:Current Tax Issues for SMMEs - 2021
DESCRIPTION:The small business sector is a vitally important part of the economy, particularly considering the critical need to create jobs and promote economic growth. Over the last few decades, government introduced several initiatives to promote small business and entrepreneurship and the tax policy relating to the development of small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs) was also scrutinised by the Davis Tax Review Committee in 2014. Yet, there have been very few developments in terms of tax incentives and relief mechanisms for SMMEs in recent years. Nonetheless, SMMEs face considerable challenges in applying the tax legislation correctly and ensuring compliance and, as we all know, making mistakes can be extremely costly.
